Goetz "Felix" Karutz, age

85 years, passed away September 30, 2022 at Community Memorial Hospital in Menomonee Falls, WI.

He was born on November 1, 1936 in Genthin, Germany, the son of Georg and Lina (née Pretorius) Karutz. In addition to his parents was preceded in death by his sisters Jutta Taylor, Heike, and his half brother Albert Karutz.

He is survived by his wife, Christa (Fellenberg) Karutz. He is further survived by his daughter, Michele Dundon of Waukesha, WI and his son Todd Karutz of Brown Deer, WI.

Goetz married Christa on June 12, 1959 in Germany. Wanting to provide a better life for his future family, he follow in his cousin Hans Schnieder’s foot steps and moved to the United States in 1961. Upon arrival they first lived in Kentucky but later settled in Milwaukee, WI where they purchased their first house and began a family.

Goetz was a remarkable provider. He joined the Printers Union and found his niche in the graphic arts industry. He honed his craft at Phillips Lithograph in Grafton, WI. This is where he earned the title of First Pressman and where he was able to retire early due to health issues.

In addition to being an excellent provider Goetz was a proud man who loved his wife and children. It’s no secret that he also loved to eat! One of his very last joys was being able to relish in Elsbeth’s boysenberry kuchen together with Christa during their stay at Linden Groove.

He loved to dance. He really took joy in always being able to find live music to show off his moves and paint the town. He also got a thrill out of watching football. To be more specific Packers football. In fact he watched Rogers (Packers) beat Brady (Buccaneers) creating one last wonderful memory around this sport with his son at his bed side. And even though he was not able to celebrate that day he definitely savored the sprits of life with just a nip of Jägermeister now and then. Hopefully he‘ll get to sneak a few after the next Packer win. Prost Goetz.

One thing is for sure, he will fondly be remembered for his love of people. His sense of humor and sarcasm will live on in our hearts. His strong German heritage definitely allowed him to live life on his terms. Something you were quick to realize when you engaged him in conversation. He was fond of a good discussion regardless of the topic and took delight in getting in the last word. Which is why after years of declining health and suffering we believe he said it best the last time he spoke to us. He clearly said “I just want to rest”. There’s an old German saying: “Männer denken, dass Gott handelt” which means: Men think, God Acts.

May you rest in eternal peace Felix. Amen.

A small celebration of life will be held at a later date with close friends and family. Condolences can be sent to Terova Senior Living c/o Christa Karutz #118 at 10995 N Market St. Mequon, WI  53092.
