Ludwig will be deeply missed by many other niece’s, nephew’s, in-laws, friends and neighbors.

Ludwig was known to many as the Local Beekeeper providing the best honey in town and was famous for being the Sauerkraut Maker! Many have felt his love through the fruits of his labor-his honey, sauerkraut, black walnuts and the produce he so proudly shared as part of his legacy!

Lud was a roofer by trade, working as a Foreman for Best Roofing where he called the shots from the roof tops. We can all say he spent his life raising barns, raising roofs and raising a little hell when needed.

Ludwig attended St. Alphonsus Catholic Church & School where he graduated 8th grade. He attended 9th grade at Greendale High School, leaving his education to work on his family’s pig farm on 60th & Edgerton in Greenfield, WI. Farming was in his blood, as he raised his own family on his farm in Big Bend, WI in 1971; teaching them to work hard, which included chores sunrise to sundown. He poured his strength into the land, providing not just for his family but building a legacy rooted in resilience and dedication. He taught his family a life of simplicity, how to enjoy the land and created grand memories for family & friends, in the seasons of planting, harvesting and reaping what was sown. He built his life with calloused hands and a stubborn spirit and had a rough time letting go after all his years of fixing, repairing, building and loving his land. He had one last ride to say goodbye to his family & farmstead in the ambulance before finding his peace at Angel’s Grace, at the end of the night.

A true German at heart, he considered Miller High Life one of life’s finest achievements that he enjoyed daily throughout life; as they say work hard, play hard! He never asked for much, but he did have one final request from all; “Crack open a cold can of Miller High Life and toast me because if you’re going to say goodbye, you might as well do it with The Champagne of Beers! His family will miss all his friends stopping by the farm to share stories over a few beers, lest we forget his tried & true friend Rich Mather. Cheers to Dad, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle, Friend, it is time to rest peacefully.
