Mark Wagner
November 18, 1953 - August 6, 2023
At the age of 69, Mark happily went into the loving and welcoming arms of our Dear Lord on August 6, 2023. Mark was the oldest of ten children – Karen Schuh (Wayne), Kurt, Lance (Lynn), David (Colleen), Gary, Kent, Glenn (Tina), Kim Shervey (Jeff) and Don (Stacey). Mark has many nephews, nieces, and other extended family members he loved and adored. Mark was preceded in death by his loving parents, Clarence (Bud), and Maryanne (Tiny), and sister-in-law Barbara (Gary) and nephew Bradley and many loving extended family members. Mark had fond memories of his fraternal grandparents, Ludwig and Ada Wagner and maternal grandparents, Vincent and Marie Gradinjan.
Mark was first appointed as a Commissioner to the Housing Authority for the City of Milwaukee in 1999, and he was elected by his peers as Chairman in 2014. He was the owner of Liberty Realty Company, LLC, which specialized in residential house and condominium sales for both existing properties and new construction. Mark had 45 years’ experience in real estate, having worked for and managed offices for Merrill Lynch, Prudential, Better Homes and Gardens, Ogden and Company, and Craftmaster Contractors. He has served as president of the Milwaukee Metro Association of Realtors (now Greater Milwaukee Association of Realtors (GMAR)), and on the boards of the Wisconsin Realtors Association (WRA) and the National Association of Realtors (NAR). Mr. Wagner is also a former director and treasurer of the Layton Boulevard West Neighbors Board of Directors. Mark was a past member of Cudahy Kiwanis Club and South Milwaukee Lion's Club; Southeastern Milwaukee Economic Development Committee; MDA volunteer; and a volunteer for St. James Catholic Church in Franklin and the Xaverian Fathers.
Mark’s family would like to thank the staff of Luther Manor for their loving devotion to his medical care. A special thank you to the trauma team and ICU staff at Froedtert Hospital. And our deep appreciation and special thanks to Jim Witkowiak, Mark’s dear friend who is assisting our family with the funeral.
A celebration of Mark’s life service will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at St. Joesph Catholic Church located at S89W22650 Milwaukee Ave (Racine Ave) Big Bend, WI 53103. Visitation is from 11 am. to 12:45 p m. Funeral Mass to follow at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the family to help defer expenses would be appreciated.
