In Loving Memory of

Nathan Smith was born on January 16, 1940 in Kosciusko, Mississippi to the union of Jessie Thelma Boone and Nathaniel Smith.

He received his formal education in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and graduated from North Division High School. Nathan was united in marriage to Rosie Veola Smith (Oates) in April 1961, Waukegan, Illinois. To this union three children were born. He was employed by the Schlitz Brewing Company for more than 15 years and later worked in real estate, remaining active until his passing.

Nathan departed this life on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, peacefully at home. He was preceded in death by both his parents, one sister (Roeaner Smith-Johnson), one brother (Bobbie Linwood Smith), and one son (Richard “Ricky” Smith).

He leaves to cherish his memory: a devoted wife, Rosie Veola Smith; children, Cynthia Renee Smith Espinoza; Patrice Lumumba Smith; Jacqueline Smith(Barry); Nathene Cornelia Katzman(Steven); and Keyona Monique Wright; grandchildren, Renata Smith; Achonte Rodgers; Mario Pharm(Bobbi Jo); Natessya Rose Katzman; Zachary Patrice Smith and Tatum Joanna Katzman; including five great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Julius Marcarthur Oates and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be at the Brett Funeral Home (2001 W. Wisconsin Ave.) on Friday January 13 starting at 2pm with Services at 5pm.
